Anthropic, OpenAI, and Elon Musk agree to pace the AI frontier

Dario Amodei published an essay calling on the AI industry to slow capability gains, and committed Anthropic to giving outside evaluators employee-level access. Sam Altman said OpenAI will match it.

The Commerce Department has lifted export controls on Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, ending an 18-day standoff that took the company's most advanced models offline.

Anthropic has raised $65 billion in Series H funding led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, pushing the Claude maker's valuation to $965 billion.

Anthropic closes the second-largest private tech funding round ever, led by GIC and Coatue, as the Claude maker reports $14 billion in annualized revenue.
