Context.dev Raises $9M to Give AI Agents Access to the Web

Context.dev (context.dev), which sells a single API for pulling live web data into software and AI agents, has raised $9 million in a round led by General Catalyst. Orange Collective, Pioneer Fund, Robinhood Ventures, Eniac Ventures, SV Angel, and others also invested, along with angels including Paul Graham, Guillermo Rauch, Theo Browne, and Rick Rubin. Founder and CEO Yahia Bakour announced the funding on X.

The company, part of Y Combinator's Summer 2026 batch, handles search, scraping, crawling, and monitoring through one API. A developer can pass in a URL and get back clean Markdown, rendered HTML, screenshots, or structured JSON, or pass in a domain and receive a company's logos, colors, fonts, and profile data. Bakour says more than 800 customers now use the product.

The company's site features a long list of those customers, including Mintlify and SiteGPT. Mintlify used Context.dev to build a tool that turns a GitHub repository URL into a branded documentation site. SiteGPT, which makes customer support chatbots, moved to Context.dev from Firecrawl to scrape whole websites and build the knowledge bases its bots answer from.

"We're building Context.dev to make it ridiculously easy to get web data into your products and agents."

The company started out as Brand.dev, an API for company logos and brand data. As customers asked for more general web extraction, Bakour renamed it Context.dev earlier this year, and the brand data endpoints now sit alongside the scraping and crawling tools.

Before Context.dev, Bakour was a principal software engineer and manager at Sunrun and a tech lead on Amazon's retail checkout platform. He also co-founded StockAlarm.io, which grew to more than 225,000 users before it was acquired.
